First things first, welcome to all the new members of the mailing list we've had over the last few weeks! Having a few competitions has really brought you guys in... good to have you aboard. Secondly, thanks to everyone who came to the show on Thursday night in Manchester. We played a lot of new material and everyone seemed to be suitably digging it and we were stoked with the response. Thank you to all at Sound Control especially Ben Taylor as well as Tonn Piper and James Kennedy. And big up to <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Raich-Hype-Photography/184615444953948">Raich Hype Photography for this keeper... Right, onto the free stuff! Over the past week or so there has been a lot of debate raging about the SOPA issue (the US government's initiative to use the law to stamp out internet activity they deem unsuitable) not least on my Twitter. Whereas this forum probably isn't the place to get down and dirty with my opinions on the matter, let's just say that my viewpoint of it was a little less anti-SOPA than a lot of people might have expected. While I was brought round in terms of the greater issue after listening to you guys, I still feel that internet file-sharing is ultimately damaging TV, films and music. A few people took that to mean I was completely against copying and sharing music and pointed out that without copied music they would have never discovered Sonic Boom Six. Then, they argued, we've come to gigs and seen you and bought your t-shirts and all is well with the world. I agreed this was a good point! First things first, welcome to all the new members of the mailing list we've had over the last few weeks! Having a few competitions has really brought you guys in... good to have you aboard. Secondly, thanks to everyone who came to the show on Thursday night in Manchester. We played a lot of new material and everyone seemed to be suitably digging it and we were stoked with the response. Thank you to all at Sound Control especially Ben Taylor as well as Tonn Piper and James Kennedy. And big up to Raich Hype Photography for this keeper...



Right, onto the free stuff! Over the past week or so there has been a lot of debate raging about the SOPA issue (the US government's initiative to use the law to stamp out internet activity they deem unsuitable) not least on my Twitter. Whereas this forum probably isn't the place to get down and dirty with my opinions on the matter, let's just say that my viewpoint of it was a little less anti-SOPA than a lot of people might have expected. While I was brought round in terms of the greater issue after listening to you guys, I still feel that internet file-sharing is ultimately damaging TV, films and music. A few people took that to mean I was completely against copying and sharing music and pointed out that without copied music they would have never discovered Sonic Boom Six. Then, they argued, we've come to gigs and seen you and bought your t-shirts and all is well with the world. I agreed this was a good point!

Finally, I've moved my blog from the old blogspot jobby to a fresh new Tumblr. I've got a good bag of questions to get through but I always welcome more. I've just written a big old blog on the gear used on the new album and my thoughts on bass-playing and I'm definitely going to be on it with this blog because there's lots of pretty pictures flying about Tumblr-land to keep my attention. First of all, a massive thanks to those who came down and partied at The Barfly gig on Friday. It was an awesome show and thanks to Chris McCormack and all at Jubilee Club for having us. You Camden crew were ruffneck rowdy as always and with your help at the show we've been able to take several steps towards the possibility of getting the new album out... but, in the spirit of doing so, we need to appeal for the presence of you mentalists once again! We're stoked to announce our first show of 2012 in the form of HMV's Next Big Thing...

"HMV Next Big Thing Festival showcases the next wave of musical talent in bars and clubs across London, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester. You can catch next year's festival main stagers in venues like The Barfly, Heaven, The Borderline and The Garage over nine solid days of gigs. On Thursday 9th Feb 2012 your friendly-neighbourhood Boom are headlining The Barfly for a run-down of new tracks from our forthcoming album as well as all the old favourites. As we said, we need you guys in the crowd giving it some to literally determine the future of The Boom. I guess many of those faces have been brought in via our recent promotion to TV Channels around the country through the 'For The Kids Of The Multiculture' video. Speaking of which, as well as being rocked on Kerrang! TV and Scuzz and others we've been added to the 4Music line-up, (alongside such luminaries and role models N-Dubz and Bruno Mars) which is amazing. You'd be really helping us out by going and letting them know whether it's a hit or a miss <a href="http://www.4music.com/news/news/1843/Sonic-Boom-Six-For-the-Kids-of-the-Multiculture">HERE. You can catch our faces tonight on 4Music from 19:30 onwards on THE RADIO ROCK 20! This countdown features the 20 most played tracks on UK rock radio stations, right now. This is particularly exciting for me as 4Music is the chosen music channel at my barbers. <a href="http://www.4music.com/"> With the tour finished, we're going to be spending November off gigs, crossing the t's and dotting the i's to get our next single and album on their way. The tour was absolutely amazing and a few of the gigs have been filmed with splashes of documentary and footage and are being assembled as we speak. It's cool when a band you've listened to and have influenced what you do take the time out to say something nice about you, check it out... You can catch our faces tonight on 4Music from 19:30 onwards on THE RADIO ROCK 20! This countdown features the 20 most played tracks on UK rock radio stations, right now. This is particularly exciting for me as 4Music is the chosen music channel at my barbers.



With the tour finished, we're going to be spending November off gigs, crossing the t's and dotting the i's to get our next single and album on their way. The tour was absolutely amazing and a few of the gigs have been filmed with splashes of documentary and footage and are being assembled as we speak. Thanks so much to Paul Atkinson and AtkinsonMedia, Josh Buckley and the ever-prolific Matt Fleming of Decode Film who caught the storming London Underworld Big Cheese 15th Birthday show. As well as the radio and TV plays we've had some cool write-ups in the Scottish Sun, a nice 5K review in Kerrang! (that's the most Ks you can have but apparently Suicidal Tendencies once got six) and, my personal favourite, a lovely little print write-up from Justin Sane of Anti-Flag. It's cool when a band you've listened to and have influenced what you do take the time out to say something nice about you, check it out...



Across the tour, we also got some time to get a few interviews done, some of which are already online. This doozy from FemaleFirst is nice and in-depth about 'Kids Of The Multiculture' and other subjects (cheers Alistair) and you can read it HERE. There's also this interview with Songkick in their bands "on the road with" series HERE (thanks Sheryl). Anyway, there's been bare shenanigans on YouTube, Twitter and Tumblr recently as more members of the great unhosed become aware of the magnitude of the feast we're bringing to the table. As I've always contended, we're too orangey for crows, which has been the source of some hilarious back-and-forths on the grunternad over the last few weeks. While the comments on the YouTube video for 'Kids' may induce sinking-stomachs at some of the people we share our country with (and, the debate rages on, go and stick your oar in HERE) the debate elsewhere has been of an altogether more light-hearted nature.
