2/9/10 - France dates and release! Katie Crush & SB6 collab!! Ruff Guide vinyl!!!

Bonjour!

It's been a while! Thanks to everyone that checked us out on our recent UK tour, we really enjoyed listening to your requests and playing some of the old favourites. And cheers to Dave from Kids Can't Fly for providing some great saxophone. We've been recording our version of 'Totally Addicted To Bass' with our old pal Christophe Bride (who engineered Turbo, STC and Ruff Guide) this weekend which has been great fun and the first time that we've actually recorded with James. We've got tours of India and Europe with Less Than Jake still to come this year, but first we're going to be visiting France and Belgium with our first proper release there in the guise of 'Rude Awakening'.

The CD version of 'Rude Awakening' is 16-tracks of SB6 punk-rock favourites and is going to be released in France on Guerilla Asso, the awesome punk-rock label ran by Till and the guys from our pals Guerilla Poubelle (who, some of you may remember, toured the UK with us way back in 2007). You can check out Guerilla Asso and the many magnificent things that they've done over at their website HERE. To celebrate the release, we're even going to be playing a FREE show in Paris! Or, to get into the spirit of things, a CONCERT GRATUIT à Paris ! :)

The dates look like this...

Oct 6, 2010 - PARIS IDF (FR) @ LE GLAZ'ART - French Tour Oct 2010
Oct 7, 2010 - LIEGE, (BELGIQUE) @ INSIDE OUT - French Tour Oct 2010
Oct 8, 2010 - HAZEBROUK, N-P (FR) @ SHAKA LAKA - French Tour Oct 2010
Oct 9, 2010 - SAINT GERMAIN SUR MOINE, (FR) @ BOEUF KA ROCK - French Tour Oct 2010
Oct 10, 2010 - ANGOULEME, (FR) @ HARD PORK FESTIVAL - French Tour Oct 2010
Oct 13, 2010 - GRENOBLE, (FR) @ AMPERAGE - French Tour Oct 2010
Oct 14, 2010 - TOURS, (FR) @ LES 3 ORFEVRES - French Tour Oct 2010
Oct 16, 2010 - GRAVELINES, (FR) @ ESPACE DECAESTECKER - French Tour Oct 2010

Back here in the UK, we have teamed up with Manchester-based designer Katie Crush Clothing to bring you our best designs as hot new dresses and tops. 5 of our most popular t-shirts have been chopped up and reconstructed to create individualised clothing especially for the ladies! Katie Crush clothing is a DIY label based in Manchester who creates distinctive DIY clothing with a sweatshop-free, punk-rock ethos and an emphasis on fun. Below are just a couple of designs... We're proud to be stocking a full range over in the Crushtomised page of the SB6 store HERE.

Also over in the SB6 store we've got limited amounts of coloured 'Ruff Guide To Genre-Terrorism' vinyl. This pressing of our debut album was released by US label Asbestos Records and we've managed to get our hands on some copies, available now in Black, White, Yellow and - proving to be extremely popular - Red. Order one HERE before they fly away! There's also a whole host of new stock that's been added to the store including the purple Street Fighter style shirts so go and take a look HERE. Go on! You've just been paid. :)

Alrighty then! I've got a new Blog up over at Barney's Blogspot HERE answering various questions tackling subjects from hardcore punk to pre-SB6 band Grimace. Remember to keep those questions coming in to barney@sonicboomsix.co.uk and we'll try and answer every single one. Also, thanks to everyone who has been contributing to the Facebook page recently. We've had tons of feedback and discussion there and it's really helped us in coming to decisions (even if when you guys told us what you'd like to hear on the next record we came to realise that the only thing we are certain of is that we were never going to please you all!) But we thank you all for the response... if you haven't already, come and join the discussions and daily updates over at our Facebook HERE.

Speak soon then...

10/8/10 - To boldly go where no band has gone before! And to Europe with Less Than Jake!!

Hello one and all!

We're still feeling the aftershock of the weekend in Blackpool at Rebellion Festival which was absolutely amazing! Ben C joined us onstage for Babyboom and also came up for his verse on 'Monkey See, Monkey Do' with the Big Boom. It was awesome to see the support for us and all the other great punk bands, roll on next year!

In true Boom style, the road goes on and as of tomorrow we're back on the road until the end of the week, at which point we'll be taking a small break to write new material (at long last!) before getting back into the thick of it (more of which to come!). Facebook events are next to the dates below.

Aug 10, 2010 - Leeds Cockpit FACEBOOK
Aug 11, 2010 - Cambridge Haymakers FACEBOOK
Aug 12, 2010 - Peterborough Club Revolution FACEBOOK
Aug 13, 2010 - Stratford Cox's Yard FACEBOOK
Aug 14, 2010 - Poole Chords FACEBOOK
Aug 15, 2010 - Nottingham The Maze FACEBOOK

The rest of the year is shaping up to be very interesting indeed... after a visit to France to promote the release of 'Rude Awakening' on Paris punk label Guerilla Asso (full dates and news coming very soon) SB6 has been given the opportunity to be a part of the Roots Festival tour in India this October. This will involve spending three weeks travelling the length and breadth of India playing live at music festivals as well as performing educational music workshops with local people between the shows. Even after numerous international tours and shows in many far-flung places, a tour of India is a truly exciting opportunity for SB6. We are told 'The Boom' will be the first or second ever band from the UK to play in certain areas of North East India!

And now we can officially announce some more great news. We've been asked by Less Than Jake to support them and the mighty Zebrahead on their European tour! Due to the Indian tour, we're not going to be on the UK dates but we'll be joining the tour for all their mainland European dates. We've only ever played a couple of dates with Less Than Jake before which were great but, seeing as they were a band that meant so much to Laila and I back in at the turn of the century, doing a tour with them is going to be very special indeed. The dates look a lot like this!

Nov 20, 2010 - Belgium, Ghent Vooruit
Nov 21, 2010 - Germany, Hamburg Markthalle
Nov 22, 2010 - Germany, Berlin Postbahnof
Nov 23, 2010 - Germany, Munster Sputnikhalle
Nov 24, 2010 - Germany, Cologne Live Music Hall
Nov 26, 2010 - Italy, Legnano Land of Live
Nov 27, 2010 - Italy, Gualtieri Tempo Rock Club
Nov 28, 2010 - Austria, Vienna Arena
Nov 29, 2010 - Germany, Munich Backstage Werk
Nov 30, 2010 - Germany, Stuttgart Longhorn
Dec 01, 2010 - Holland, Amsterdam Melkweg

Right then! Much more news coming very soon about the new 'Rude Awakening' CD compilation as well as a new video and new recordings to boot. Please keep those questions coming in at barney@sonicboomsix.co.uk, I'm gonna be doing a blog update in the next few days so don't worry, I'm not ignoring you!

10/7/10 - Last Role Call for All! Get your name on the list!! Bristol & Belfast Changes!!!

Well now!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the time is upon us. As of this coming week, we'll be embarking on our 'Too Orangey For Crows' summer tour of the UK and Ireland and - apart from a last rehearsal or two - we are ready to go! Last tour there were one or two complaints about the lack of brass up there. You spoke; we listened. For the vast majority of shows, we'll be joined by Dave from Kids Can't Fly or Lynsey from The Hostiles on sax, and wee Jimmy Boom is not going to be backwards in coming forward to give his bone a slide. Wow. So, if you're one of those people who sent us messages bemoaning the lack of trumpets in your life you're compelled, obliged even, to come and show some support.

Below is a wonderfully-constructed table of shows, displaying the various lovely posters for each individual show. Each poster links directly to the specific show's Facebook Event. Go and add yourself to the appropriate event and talk with people in your area how wonderful it's all going to be. Again, the amount of time that took, you're obliged to!

 Aberdeen  Belfast  Dublin  Wrexham  Swansea
 Newport  Manchester  Rebellion  Leeds  Cambridge
 Peterborough  Stratford  Poole  Nottingham  Facebook

London is getting down to the last few tickets, please, please don't hesitate to get your ticket ordered. It's got an amazing line-up and we're looking forward to a great opening to the tour. I've been asked to relay that over-16s are welcome with ID but over-14s must be accompanied by an over-18. Tickets are HERE.

It wouldn't be a Boom tour if there weren't some last minute shiftys and shuffles. The "great gig that never was" in Bristol is not going to be going ahead. It was just too difficult to pin down the appropriate venue on the appropriate date. Sorry about that Bristol guys but maybe you can just head over to Newport instead?! Thanks to Matt at The Croft for being so helpful in his attempts to get something sorted.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Belfast show has been moved to the venue Auntie Annies. Join the Facebook group to stay up to date with the show HERE.

Thanks a lot for all the questions I've had coming in to my mailbag. There is a brand-new Blog up HERE where I answer all those taxing questions regarding subjects as diverse as Babyboom, Anarchy and strange lyrics. Please keep those questions coming in at barney@sonicboomsix.co.uk

Speaking of Blogs, the final part of the US Tour Diary is up on our YouTube HERE. Please watch them with your head-balls and laugh at the abject ridiculousness of our little troupe... and leave some comments damn ya!

OK then, I'll stop shilling this UK Tour very soon. We've got some great news coming up about releasing a Boom compilation in France on Guerilla Asso and Germany on Fond of Life as well as a tour of a country that not many bands get to tour! And that's an understatement! That's all coming very soon, for now go and get yourself a ticket for the tour and check out our friends over at Guerilla Asso and Fond of Life for some righteous punk rock shenanigans.

Innabit yo!

29/6/10 - The Boom Need You! New Dates and More!!

Hey there homies!

Thanks for the huge uptake in mailing list members over the last week, it seems that the offer of a free track is enough to have everyone to scramble to give us their addys. Who'd have thunk it?! Anyhoo, if you're new to our mailing list then hello! You'll be receiving rambling messages from me every few weeks detailing the goings on in the Boom camp, ponitificating on this and than and often apologising for whatever we've gone and done wrong this time.

So, in the spirit of this new nation of Boom, I've updated the colour scheme on this mailout to a sickening shade of reggae in the vein hope that it will make everyone feel slightly summery and spur you into action for the Boom summer dates, questionably dubbed the 'Too Orangey For Crows' tour. And, first things first, thank you very not and you couldn't be less welcome for the pitiful uptake in ticket purchasing right now. I don't know if it's the scorching sun that's making everyone lazy but we need more people buying tickets and making things happen! Come on people, remember the fuss we had last tour when the shows sold out?!? Well then.

We've had a couple of additions to the tour. We're gonna be popping by Ivory Blacks in Glasgow on July 20th and over to the Cooler in Bristol July 30th! So the tour looks like this... Facebook events are next to the show where applicable!

I'm not sure if anyone has been keeping up with our US Tour Diary but part 3 is up HERE and involves Laila's feet, a strange tale of US comic Gallagher and the longest drive in the world. These things take me an ungodly amount of time to put together so please keep the comments coming in or you'll break my spirit and I'll do something rash like writing a song instead. Also, keep those questions and responses for the Blog coming in at barney@sonicboomsix.co.uk. I read them all!

Finally, I just remembered somebody asking me the other day where they could get the tune 'The Dangers of Rock n Roll'. Well, my friends, the answer is that you can get all that and more on our iTunes page HERE. If you pop on there and happen to think 'ah, I like that tune', please, please legally download it! Especially if you've already got some hokey mp3s of it. At the moment, we're feeling the belated pinch of the credit crunch more than ever before in our storied history, both in camp SB6 and Rebel Alliance so every little will help us keep on doing what we do! Also, you'll be glad to know that the mailorder problems we had while we are in the US are all over. Any remaining queries are being dealt with and posted out while you read.

OK then, let's speak soon. Go and buy your tickets peeps! We'll play a great set for you if you do. We promise.

Innabit!

17/6/10 - UK Tour Dates Are Here! Get a FREE Boom Track!! US Tour Diary 2!!!

Hello gang!

It's been a while! We're both sad and happy that our world tour is over we're back in Manchester. The weather is beautiful so one can't really complain. Thanks to everyone that checked us out over in the US, France and Belgium and big up to Alex Bertein and Thomas Jingle for accompanying us over in France. Slam Dunk was a hoot and we were stoked to be on a stage with a top to bottom line-up that slayed. The Skints, Me vs Hero, Random Hand, RX Bandits, Skindred and last but not least CapDpwn (great to see them back!) take a bow! And extra special thanks to Robin from Random Hand for providing the brass. There are some cool reviews of the show on ALTSOUNDS and SOUND REVOLUTION, and Marianne Harris caught this stonking shot of the Boom doing what they do best. Click the photo if you want to check more of her stuff out!

OK then, the great news is that we've got a load of shows over the summer to keep us busy. As well as shows in Manchester and London and everywhere else, we're gonna be visiting Ireland. The dates look like this...

The first date is a wonderful way to kick the tour off over in London with a stellar supporting cast of Bristol singer-songwriter extraordinaire GECKO, Screeching Weasel and Tiny Time tribute act MIKE TV and London street-punk done properly in the guise of MORAL DILEMMA. Remember, last time the London date sold out in advance so you'd be very much advised to grab that ticket soon as from HERE or forever hold your peace! The Facebook group lives HERE.

Festival-wise we've got 2000 Trees Festival, headlined by Frank Turner, which you can check out HERE as well as the yearly punk extravaganza Rebellion, headlined by the mighty Bad Religion, Gallows and many more. Look it and like it HERE. Yikes!

Over on our YouTube now we've got the second installment of the SB6 US Tour Diary. All those pesky questions such as "What do they make in Oregan?" "What happened to the email I sent to SB6's mail order in May?" and "What does the spot where Laila sit's on in the van smell of?" are answered as well as exclusive footage of Laila learning to drive. It's a show more incredible than anything you'll see on Freeview. Indulge your soul and senses HERE. More coming very soon! There's also a ton of photos and fun over on our Facebook HERE.

Hmmm, what else is there? Well, I don't know if anyone has a PSP mini but we're on a game that's kind of like Guitar Hero apparently. If a computer game doesn't feature Mario, Tony Hawks, Hulk Hogan, Guile or Zelda, I'm not much of an expert but you can see what I'm on about HERE.

Last but not least, if you're not on the Sonic Boom Six mailing join now to receive a previously unreleased track on Mp3. Wow. Last year we did a live session (with a real string section, wooo!) and we covered Boney M's classic 'Rasuputin' and we've decided to bang it over to you guys as a little fixer upper on a sunny day because you're loyal, we love you and you stick by us even when we bugger things up. I hope you enjoy it. I certainly enjoyed doing my impression of Klaus Kinski's timeless version of Nosferatu at the end. Go to our home page HERE and join the mailing list at the top-right of the page.

'Oh, those Russians'
